Why Might a Business Fail? (Pre-thoughts, answer this before doing any reading or answering questions)

When you boil it all down the reason a business fails is because it is not making the profits to support itself.

A business could fail due to the fact that your company doesn't have a good enough advertisement, that leading to not as many people coming to your business as maybe you would have thought when you first started the business, meaning you may possibly have a negative balance. Also not making enough profit to keep your business running.

A Business could fail becasue of lack of advertisement. or the product you are selling is not what the customers want.

Well, I worked for a guy whos business failed because he was rude to customers, unsanitary, and often over charged. A business may fail from all of those. Cuz his did.

Businesses can fail because they don't have good or enought advertisement, the product is not wanted/needed, the prices are wrong and you don't make a profit, and/or there is no customer service.

Business might fall cause it didn't get it's product out to the customers. Or cause it doesn't have enough money or it just has bad leaders.

A business might fail because of poor planning/work ethic. It could also fail if it has a weak leader.

A business could fail if they do not have a set budget on what they need and want.


 

Characteristics of a Successful Entrepreneur:

Explain each characteristic and why it would be important

 

Independent:

You have to be independent in some forms of Entrepreneurship because you are the one in charge, the one who has to make all of the final decisions just you all by yourself.

Indipendent is important because you need to be able to handle thilngs by yourself and being indipendent you know that what needs to get done will get done.

When your independent in a business you stableize yourself in your position and are able to preform on your own rather than having assistance.

Being independent is important cause then you don't have to rely on someone else to get things done. or they can't blame you for something you had nothing to do with.

An independent entrepreneur is important because when you want something done you don't have to rely on someone to do it and they get it done.

its important because you have to know how to take charge and lead

It is important to be independent because you can't always rely on other people but you can always rely on yourself.

If you are going to be a successful entrepreneur then you can not depend on other people, you have to be able to support yourself and take charge.

Everyone seems to think that to have a successful entrepreneurship you have to do things all by yourself, but I would like to point out that most successful entrepreneurships have many owners working together to run the business. Independent doesn't nessicarly mean solo. To be a successful entrepreneur you should be an independent thinker and motivator, but be able to accept ideas and options from others.

 

 

Self-Confident:

You have to have confidence in yourself if you want to be successful if you don't you may not do as well as you could if you were more confident in the work that you do.

Being self confident gives you the chance to show that you can be suscessful.

Self-Confident people have more of a detrement than those who dont. The insecure and weak individuals can easily be pushed around by the self-confident and you do a much better job in your business as a self- confident employee.

Self-Confidence is important cause you need to be confident in yourself or you'll never be successful. Or people won't trust you cause your not confident in yourself.

You need to have self-confidence or you will not succeed.

You need self confidence to make your employee's feel like they can be leaders too.

You need to be self confident because if you dont have confidence in yourself why would other people have confidence in you?

When you have self-confidence then you will not be afraid to put yourself out there to make your business open up to other people. 

 

 

Determinaiton/Perseverance:

You need to be able to make sure you get things done when they need to be done. Even if you assign someone else to do some job that needs to be done by a certain time you have to push yourself to push them to make sure it gets done so you're not the one stuck doing it last minute.

Being determined in a business can push you to a higher position and also boost your self-confidence.

Determination is a must in running a business. You can get very far if your not determined.

Being determined to have your business susceed. not beieng determined will get you no where.

You must have determination and perseverance in order to run a sucessfull business.

you need it because  it is what makes you make risky and good decisions to make your business better.

Determination is helpful so that you can get whee you want to in your business.

When people are determinaed then they are more likely to be successful and are also more likely to hold a higher position in their business if they are not already at the top of it. If you can set your mind on your goal and go for it then you should be able to run a successful business.

All businesses will suffer hardtimes. If you don't have determinaiton and perseverance then you may not make it through these hardtimes. You have to have the determinaition to make it through them and surpass them.

 

 

Goal-Oriented-

You need to have goals in order to obtain something that you want to gain from your business. You must have a goal that you want to reach by starting that business in the first place.

Being goal oriented help you to get your business where you want and how you wan tit to susceed.

First you need determination to set a goal, and then with that determination you will want to reach your goals. Having goals in a business is very important because it your own personal goals push you towards being more independent and determined.

To run a successful busincss you must set goals and follow these goals in order to maintain perfection.

you have to have a goal to work to work for to make  a successful business.

For any business to work you need to be able to to have set goals so that you know what you want to come from your business.

If your not goal-oriented you probably woun't get any work done, so you will probably get fired.

When you can set goals for yourself then you can set goals for your business, which will help you to keep your business organized and maintain all order. 

Without goals then you have no place that you are trying to go and therefore you will not grow. Without goals it is easy to slackoff and let opportunities pass you by.

 

 

Need to Achieve-all new goals--

You need to be able to set goals that you know yourself will be able to acheive maybe they wont be the easiest goals but you still need to make sure that they are obtainable or else you will be shooting for something you may neve acheieve.

Setting goals is important but its also important to make sure your goals are achiveable. Setting too high of goals can cause massive stress.

If your goals are impossible then there is no point in setting them.

To keep a business running good you must keep setting new goals and following them.

You must keep making new goals to keep your business progressing.

you need to have determination first to be able to achieve new goals.   

The need to achieve is important cause if you don't achieve your goals your business will go down and you could lose your job and maybe even your business.

If you can set goals and then forus yourself to achieve them then your business with run smoother and is more likely to be succussful

Once you have reached your goals it is important to set new goals to keep the forward progress in motion. However you need to have the will to achieve these goals. If you don't have the will to achieve you could do harm to your business by starting things that don't get finished.

 

 

High Standards for oneself--

Basically the same thing that goes for self confidence without having high standards for yourself what are other people going to think about you. If you run your own business you have to be pretty much the leader meaning you need to believe in yourself and be confident in what you can do.

I dont know how everyone else feels about setting standars, but for me i always remember to never set my standards too high.  Expect the worst and avoid dissapointment. Dissapointmen will only discourage you.

HIgh standards are a good thing but they can also be bad. if you set those standards too high and then you fail you will lose confidence. but if you acheive those standards then you will feel great.

Set standards hig h for yourself and always set them higher once you've achieved them.

Highers standards for yourself makes you push to be or make your business better. 

the higher you set your standards the more youll want to push yourself to reach them.

You need high standards for yourself to become a sucessful entrepreneur and to have a sucessful business.

The higher your standards are the better your business will be because you can push it to higher better places! 

You should always set your standards for your self higher than you do for others. Employees will see your image and try to imitate it. If you required high standards of employees, but don't follow them yourself, your hypocratcy can lead to employees disliking or hating you.

 

 

Creative -

Creativity gets people noticed so if you are very creative chances are you business might do better than say someone who is just plain jane like every other business. There has to be something about you that sets you apart from the others.

Getting ahead of the game is easier when your creative. Creativity can show what type of person you are, or how dedicated you are to the business. It also shows individuality.

Creativity is a way to show the customers and employees of your business that you are serious about suceeding.

Being creative is important in selling items.

being creative is important for marketing and selling your porducts.

creativity is imported when your advertising your products so that it'll catch peoples eyes.

Creativity is important cause no one wants/needs a boring product or idea. With creativity more people will want your product and not someone elses.

Creativity is very important so you can grabs somes eye with your advertising and it will show others that you are an interesing person to work with.

It is important to have new and creative ideas in your entreprenuership. No matter what the entreprenuership is creative new ideas can help motivate employees and raise morals. If you are not a very creative person then find someone who is and hire them to help you if you can.

 

 

Act Quickly-

You need to be able to act quickly in case you assign someone something to do and they don't finish it. Or if you get something that needs to be done immediately or else the person is taking their business somewhere else. Being able to act quickly yet still do a good job is a very important quality to have when owning your own business.

Never procrastinate. Work quickly and effectively for the best satisfaction and never wait till the last minute to get the job done.

Acting quickly can get things done. slow to work is slow to finish.

Getting things done quickly will get your work done faster.

sometimes you have to act quickly to make a good decision for your business

Sometimes acting quickly is better so that you don't change your mine because your pondering the thought forever.

Acting quickly could be the difference between getting and not getting a very important job. And the difference of who gets a promotion and who doesn't.

If you are able to act quickly then you are more likely to please your customers and also make decisions faster which will please more people. 

Make sure that you can think on your feet. There are so times opertunitys and disasters that will need a quick hand to help fix or reach. Procrastinating can lead to lost of profit or production.


 

Disadvantages of Entrepreneurship:

Some disadvantages of Entreprenuership would be that you may not have enough money of advertisement and you business could not do very well. Also you may not have the skills to own your own business.

Disadvantages of Entrepreneurship would possibly be the leadership, weather its not exactly focused on the business, or the amount of teamwork, or the decrease in incoming profits. Several detriments come with Entrep.

In Entrepreneurship their are some disadvantages. If the person running it doesn't get stuff done on time then things won't work out.

sometimes it's hard to get your name (business name) out there

Disadvantages could be that you arent very good at running things by yourself so you always have the possibility to fail.

Some disadvantages are you and your employees don't have whats needed to run a business. Or you don't have the leadership skills it takes. or your business could fail cause your products not a necessity.

Some disadvantages are if you don't know what you are doing your business will most likely fail, you are responsible for all of the business, and sometimes your product is not a need at the time and will not sell. 

Disadvantages of being an entrepreneur are, first, everthing and everyone most be paid be for you. After paying for supplies and paychecks there may not be much money left for you, and if you want to spend money for growth then the money comes out of your pocket. Anything that goes wrong in the entrpreneurship is your fault even if it isn't. All lawsuits are paid for from your pocket and if you lose them then you have to pay them.


 

Advantages of Entrepreneurship:

Some advantages of Entreprenuership are, you are creating something the people want, selling it to them in a friendly manner, working on your own personal goals that you set for youself and/or your business.

Advantages of Entrepreneurship could be the type of business your in. Also the skills you learn from entrep could prepare you for greater tasks.

Entrepreneurship has advantages as well. If you like being a leader and getting things done on time then things will work out.

If you make it you have a good chance of making alot of money and being successful

It could make you very successful if you can handle all the work.

Advantages are your business could be very sucessful. You have the skills to run a business sucessfully.

An advantage of entrepreneurship is you run your own business with the customer service how you want it, pick what products you want usually, and can advertise your business how you want to.

You don't have to work under any one if you owner your own business. You make the money you make. You pay your self. You don't have to answer to anyone. You make the discion of what to do with the business. If the profits are good you make more money, unlike the employees who still make the same amount.

I enjoy working with people, talking to people, being in charge.

I like to do jobs with good quality and meet deadlines. I like to be behind the scene, don't like to get lots of attention for what i do.

I'm a very open individual so if someones pictures look bad, i'm going to tell them exactly what i think.

i like to be able to get things that other people would want not just what i want.

I like talking to people (Customers). Making sure all jobs are done even if i have to do it myself. Also being in charge.

Think Critically

 

Entrepreneurs can fail even if they are committed and have the characteristics needed to be successful.  Why do you think this can happen?

 

This can happen because if if they may have the skills to run a business you also have to depend on the people if they want to go to your business and buy the products you have at your business.

 

You can have a good business and be a strong entrepreneur and still be unsuccessful, because there has to be a need for your business. For example if you have a good dog treat business and something happend to the dogs or people couldn't spend the money on dog treats because of the hard times, then your business most likely will not be successful.

 

Even if you have the dedication and skills, you still need the customer. Without them your nothing at all and bringing in no money.

 

it might be depended on what the business is selling. if its a unwanted product, they dont want it. and they dont sell any of it

 

Because they dont have their full focus on their bussiness needs.

 

Because the economy isn't right for their line of work. Or they don't have reliable workers.

 

Why is it important for entrepreneurs to choose a field that they will enjoy?

 

Because, if you don't choose a field that you enjoy then you wont want to do your job and not be very motivated to get the job finished when things need to be. It also is important because without liking what you do you are probably more likely to not do very well.

 

If you don't like your job you are not going to want to go to work and work hard at the job, this isn't helpful for anyone. However if you are in a field that you enjoy then you are more likely to work hard, meet deadlines, have quality work,  and also have fun.

 

If you hate your job, quit your job. Otherwise, you'll be complaining your whole life and you wont ever enjoy your work or even co-workers. Its important for people to enjoy what they do because thats when the product comes out the best.

 

they spend alot of time on it and they better like it because they will be spending alot of time and money on/with it.

Because they are putting alot of their time into it so why not make it something you enjoy rather than something you hate.

Because you do a better job if you enjoy your job. You'll be able to wake up every morning and think i love my job.

 

Do you think the advantages of entrepreneurship outweigh the disadvantages?  Why or Why not?

 

Yes, because the advantages of entrepreneurship are very high if you run your business well, advertise well, have friendly employees, having all the aspects you need to run a great successful business. Where as the disadvantages only lie with how you run the business if you run it well there will be very few disadvantages.

 

Yes they do. The advantages are that as long as you run your business with customer service, are kind to your employees, have a good/needed product, have good business skills, and advertise your business you will usually do good. Where as the disadvantages are if you don't know what you are doing your business will most likely fail, and you are responsible for all of the business.

 

Advantages weigh out disadvantages because every business has its ups and downs, but eventually every up and down is bypassed and all is well once again.

 

I do because alot more good  can come from owning your own business.

 

Yes, because in the long run even if things start out rough you have the ability to be successful.

 

Yes i do, because the advantages are higher than the disadvantages. And you can usually fix the disadvantages.
